TOP 10 Worst Episodes in Dragon Ball Super

The new Dragon Ball Super series, as a whole, was relatively well received by fans of the Dragon Ball saga, but obviously not all the episodes were a success and if you watched the entire saga, you will agree very much. certainly... As a result, it's not surprising to see that the series contains a lot of episodes that look neither completely finished nor very well worked compared to its predecessors. What is surprising, however, is that this new saga has also been able to give a facelift to the license while allowing it to become known to the new generation. 🍼

Indeed, the original Dragon Ball saga was starting to get old and the choice that Toei Animation took in order to relaunch a new sequel to the saga could have been beneficial to continue to endure over time and to increasingly anchor the Licence. But with its share of new characters, new transformations and new figurines to collect, we also detected chronological aberrations and quite a few botched episodes, a lot of inconsistencies and repetitions in the arcs of the films. To see things a little more clearly, Goku Shop has put together a TOP 10 of the worst episodes of Dragon Ball Super for you!

10.EP. 4: THE PILAF GANG’S ATTACK PLAN!

Dragon Ball Super Pilaf

Despite a good start to the series, episode 4 turned out to be a big flop. And yes, any episode focusing primarily on Pilaf always goes poorly for most Western fans of the series. Pilaf just isn't as popular or loved here as it is in Japan. Interestingly enough, the US actually got the first arc before Dragon Ball Z, so early fans of the franchise would have been more familiar with Pilaf. 🗽

Regardless, the fact that the Dragon Ball saga was only mainstream in the West until Dragon Ball Z got to the Cell arc naturally means that Pilaf isn't going to be able to gain many fans. In addition, fans just wanted to discover the battle of the gods as quickly as possible at a time when the series was starting to lay a good foundation until it reached episode 4, so interest in this character and this episode was growing. will reveal even less essential for the main plot.

If you are still a fan of this character, find the DBZ Pilaf Figurine exclusively at Goku Shop!

9. EP. 52: SON GOHAN AND TRUNKS OF THE FUTURE

Gohan Trunks from Future Dragon Ball Super

It's actually surprising that Dragon Ball Super Episode 52 isn't rated lower. But that's mostly because it's part of a series of pretty decent and plausible episodes in the Black Goku arc. The plot of this episode revolves around Trunks going to visit the new “passive” Gohan who doesn't fight and who obviously had a child. 👪

Frankly, the episode is a bit embarrassing and depicts Gohan in a very strange state of mind. This seems completely contradictory to his character, especially when Gohan - out of nowhere and at the very end - decides that he will start training again. It's far from the real Gohan that Trunks knew and who had saved him when he was younger. ⚔️

8.EP. 73: GOHAN MAKES AN APPEARANCE IN A MOVIE!

Great Saiyaman Dragon Ball Super

This episode 73 of the Dragon Ball Super series is actually quite nice, all things considered. Indeed, it's not often that the Dragon Ball saga indulges in an episode centered on Saiyaman . The character is such an interesting alter-ego of Gohan, but Saiyaman, naturally, is not a character who can appear as often in the saga. In addition, for us, Western audiences, Saiyaman did not have such a big impact in the ranking of the notable characters of the entire saga. 📖

Dragon Ball Z was undoubtedly the most culturally influential saga for us, especially during the Cell arc , an arc which however does not really capture the real tone of the series. As a result, fans are having a hard time emphasizing the humor of the first Boo arc. Fortunately, more and more people have become attached to the character of Saiyaman, but his reputation is still not that laudatory in our country. 🥉

7. EP. 87: HUNTING THE HUNTERS!

C 17 Dragon Ball Super

To say that the anime mishandled the build-up to the Tournament of Power would be an understatement. While conceptually interestingly handled, the execution left a lot to be desired - particularly Goku's insistence on using his Super Saiyan Blue form for even the easiest skirmishes with characters obviously weaker than him. 🏆

Add to that the already bland premise of Goku and C-17 working together to hunt down evil poachers and it quickly becomes clear that there won't be much to enjoy in this episode. At least, we will not take away the fact that this passage was an important element in the C-17 arc. He will also end up becoming such an important character at the end of the tournament of power that episodes like this would seem necessary in hindsight. 🎥

6.EP. 102: A HUGE EXPLOSION OF “LOVE POWER”!

Dragon Ball Super Gif

To say that Universe 2 doesn't like the fandom would be quite paradoxical. It's a blatant parody indeed, but one that hasn't really resonated with some fans. This episode was widely considered by fans to be one of the worst in the Dragon Ball Super series, which muddied the waters of the otherwise very well-organized Tournament of Power. 😵

Reusing a lot of animation and focusing on a single joke, it's a difficult episode to watch, with quite a bit of unnecessary length. But yet, it's also seen as a charming love letter to a series likeSailor Moon . So it only has value in that regard and it's certainly an interesting premise. Does it reflect real success? Let's not exaggerate, but let's be realistic, almost none were in Dragon Ball Super.

5.EP. 15: LET’S SEND KAMIOREN WALKING!

Kamioren Dragon Ball Super

Mr. Satan , much like Pilaf, is not as popular a character in the West as he is in Japan. It's a shame because he's one of the best characters in the series. He's funny, he's interesting, and he has a relatively original personality. However the Dragon Ball Super series doesn't use it often, but Mr. Satan is always funny when he's around. 💬

Unfortunately, this Mr. Satan-centric episode more or less served as a weird epilogue to Battle of the Gods when, once again, fans just wanted to skip through the optional material and get to the heart of the matter. The first days of Dragon Ball Super were still really exhausting. New content was upon us, but completely out of reach since all those lengths with supporting characters had taken over the episodes! 💤

4.EP. 30: WHO WILL BE THE LAST TWO TEAMMATES?

Dragon Ball Super Tournament of Power

With the stories finally completed, the Dragon Ball Super saga slowly began to build up to the Universe 6 Tournament, the first true arc tournament since the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, at the end of Dragon Ball. Unfortunately, this episode served as little more than a clip show of sorts, summarizing fans of the story so far. To see a little more clearly, you can also read our article on the TOP 10 Episodes of the Saiyan Saga .

Indeed, not only did Dragon Ball Super see fit to release two entire films centered on new non-canonical elements - making them much longer than they were originally - but also the series devoted an entire episode to another recap. Needless to say, this episode deserves to be largely ignored. 💨

3. EP. 68: SHENRON APPEARS! WHAT WISH WILL BE FULFILLED?

Shenron DBZ

This is an episode that doesn't really deserve the hate it gets. Honestly, this is one of the most adorable filler episodes that Saga has created, keeping the story fairly calm and easy enough to digest. Pan ending up sick also adds an interesting human element to Dragon Ball, one that doesn't appear too rarely these days in the series. 💊

At the same time, it's more or less a filler episode that follows Black Goku's arc. Dragon Ball Super had managed to get out of its monotonous tone but unfortunately it will return to it immediately with this episode. If we look at it as just an episode detached from the others and unpretentious, it's fine, but as a sequel to the dismal end of the Black Goku arc, it doesn't really seem appropriate. It should have ultimately been placed closer to the start of the universe survival arc. 🪐

2.EP. 43: GOKU'S ENERGY IS UNCONTROLABLE!

Goku Kaioken SSJ Blue

From time to time, Dragon Ball Super devotes an episode of its series to fixing a minor detail that Toriyama would have neglected ( often for good reasons) . In this episode, Goku must deal with the consequences of pairing Kaioken with his Super Saiyan Blue form as he struggles to control his Ki. 🎇 You can also find the Goku Blue Plush inspired by the Dragon Ball Super saga in our store if you are a fan of this form!

Goku Blue Plush

It's an interesting concept for an episode, but it's not as interesting as it might seem on paper. There's a reason why Toriyama chooses topics like that. In the Dragon Ball manga, he never talked about these moments. Manga and anime are different mediums and an anime can afford to launch a single episode like this, hence the bias decided here, but as you can see, it's not because it's It is possible that it will necessarily become a success. 💩

1.EP. 69: GOKU AGAINST ARALÉ!

Arale Dragon Ball Super

We close this TOP 10 in style with episode 69 of this new saga. This out-of-competition episode is undoubtedly one of the best episodes of the Dragon Ball Super saga, which calls on Dr. Slump and Aralé to offer a sort of truly hilarious pictorial love letter to the works of Akira Toriyama . The Dragon Ball saga often remains silly, zany, and it doesn't always take itself seriously. That's part of its charm, you'll agree. 💖

It also makes those serious, dramatic moments stand out all the more. The Dragon Ball Super series is improved by episodes like this, which are remembered for a long time. Dragon Ball Super contains a lot of bad episodes, and you can confirm that, but the series still reaches its best level when it maintains its lightness. ☁️
