BABIDI APPEARANCE AND PERSONALITY
Babidi comes from a very distant alien race and has a tiny build. He actually reaches the height of the knees of Dabra , the King of Demons. He has brown skin, large beady green eyes, and numerous hairs on the surface of his skull. Babidi wears a long orange cape and a sky blue skirt. He also has a black top and pointy brown shoes. The evil wizard also wears a waistband with the letter M written in large black letters. 🤔
Babidi is an evil sorcerer who shows no mercy towards his enemies and allies. He does not feel the slightest remorse as he is capable of killing his most faithful servants in cold blood. He indeed considers the latter as pawns and does not hesitate to kill them to achieve his ends. Once one of his subordinates no longer proves to be of any use, Babidi gets rid of him immediately. Having no respect for life and loving to manipulate the world around him, Babidi enjoys killing sadistically and takes great pleasure in it.
Having no talent for combat, he is quite cowardly by nature and he does not hesitate to flee as soon as he feels in danger after panicking. Babidi hates losing and he loses his calm when he is no longer in control of the situation. This is particularly the case when Goku teleports following a confrontation with Majin Buu . Babidi, furious, then orders Buu to find the Saiyan without success .
Very often accompanied and protected by high-level warriors, Babidi likes to make fun of his opponents by taunting them when he knows they are of lower level . When his own life is in danger, he trembles in fear leaving his evil attitude behind and is capable of stooping to anything to save his existence. 😅
It is important to point out that in the full version of the anime, his taunts are much more crude and vulgar . There is even a passage where Babidi gives Goku the finger following a scathing reply from the latter. 👎
Despite his arrogance and his calculating side, the evil sorcerer did not foresee that Majin Buu could betray him one day. Babidi, however, realized that he made a mistake by letting Majin Buu kill Dabra who was loyal to him .
Indeed, when Buu revolted, the evil sorcerer no longer had any allies to protect him. The future shows that Babidi never accepted this betrayal. At the end of the saga, the sorcerer observes from the Underworld the fight between Goku and Kid Buu in the company of other villains. Babidi pretends to be on the side of his peers during the confrontation but he secretly hopes for Goku's victory , having not forgiven Buu's betrayal. 🤣
BIOGRAPHY OF BABIDI
Babidi is one of Bibidi's many doubles. He is effectively his double and is therefore considered his own son . When Bibidi died, he transferred all his powers to Babidi who was still alive. Majin Buu being locked up, Babidi will then form his own organization with the aim of freeing him and killing the Supreme Kaio Shin in order to avenge his father (or his original double). 👊
The evil sorcerer sets out to find people with evil hearts with the aim of manipulating them into loyal henchmen . Babidi also, through his magic, created a spaceship and searched for henchmen throughout the universe.
Of all the warriors Babidi has managed to corrupt, it turns out that Dabra , the King of Demons, is the most powerful and loyal among them.
DRAGON BALL Z CHAMPIONSHIP SAGA
Babidi makes his first appearance when he arrives on Earth without his ship with his henchmen with the objective of freeing the monstrous creation of his father, Majin Buu. He soon learns that he is being hunted by the Supreme Kaio Shin as well as Kibito who are trying to thwart his evil plan . The evil sorcerer easily managed to camouflage himself on the planet of humans by burying his spaceship underground. In order to completely hide his location, he even goes so far as to kill all the members of an innocent family who were not far from the ship. 🛸
Babidi quickly locates the magic ball Majin Buu is trapped in and brings it inside his ship. He soon realizes that in order to free the monster he needs to accumulate a large amount of pure energy to be able to break the magic seal.
The sorcerer then learns of the existence of the World Martial Arts Championship and decides to steal the fighters' energy to free Majin Buu. He then sends two of his henchmen, Yamu and Spopovich, who register for the tournament.
Some time later, the two fighters return from the championship with the stolen energy of Son Gohan and Babidi believes that he no longer needs their services. Yamu tries to run away but is pulverized by Pui Pui , another servant of the evil wizard. Spopovich , meanwhile, is sadistically tortured by Babidi. The sorcerer makes it explode from the inside very slowly, making it swell little by little. This sickening and cruel torture perfectly reflects Babidi's nature and character. He compensates for his weak abilities by torturing those inferior to him. The sorcerer, however, realizes that he made a mistake because Son Gohan's energy in Super Saiyan 2 only filled half of the potential needed to free Majin Buu. 👍
The evil sorcerer quickly realizes that he has found Son Goku, Son Gohan, Vegeta, Krillin, Piccolo, the great Kaio Shin Supreme and Kibito. The latter had in fact followed Yamu and Spopovich . Shin being responsible for Bibidi's death, Babidi then wishes to avenge him and orders Dabra, his right arm and his most powerful henchman, to attack. The Demon King exterminates Kibito in a single attack and using a special spit, transforms Krillin and Piccolo into stone statues . The goal is also to attract Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and Shin into Babidi's spaceship. 🤔
Pui Pui takes charge of Vegeta but quickly finds his death in the face of the Prince of Saiyans without requiring any effort from the latter. Babidi, for his part, summons a powerful alien named Yakon who is responsible for trapping Son Goku. The creature, although very feared in the universe, poses no problem to Goku who exterminates it quite easily. Running out of options, Babidi sends Dabra to face Son Gohan in a fair duel . During the confrontation, Dabra realizes that Vegeta has an evil side in him and understands that his master could exploit this weakness. 🤜
The King of Demons then flees the fight in order to report the news to Babidi. The latter then immediately casts a spell on the Prince of Saiyans which transforms him into Majin Vegeta .
To his surprise, the evil wizard realizes that Majin Vegeta is not completely obedient. The Prince of Saiyans succeeded, thanks to Babidi, in reaching the Super Saiyan 2 stage and only thinks of facing Goku with this new power. ✨
The sorcerer still ends up accepting this disobedience because the power generated by Majin Vegeta while confronting Goku could prove sufficient to resurrect Buu .
Some time later, Dabra and Babidi are confronted by Son Gohan and Shin at the same time as the magic ball shatters, freeing Majin Buu.
SAGA OF MAJIN BUU
Convinced of encountering a terrible, powerful and repulsive demon, Babidi and Dabra realize that Buu is presented in the form of an obese and childish-looking monster . The latter then immediately question Majin Buu's abilities. Babidi also notes that the monster is totally disobedient and turns a deaf ear to orders. It is only by threatening to lock him in his cocoon again that the evil sorcerer manages to make Majin Buu obey him. 😅
Babidi, however, is delighted to see the demonstration of Buu's power when the monster manages to knock out the Demon King in a single blow . No longer needing Dabra, Babidi manages to gain Buu's sympathy with a compliment . The evil wizard then sends Majin Buu against Gohan and the great Kaio Shin.
Shin is on the verge of being killed when Dabra gets up and launches a powerful ranged attack on Buu, cutting him right through . The Demon King then vows to end Majin Buu's life while the monster is busy regenerating. ✨
Dabra understands that Majin Buu is very dangerous and advises Babidi to lock the monster away while there is still time, but the evil wizard ignores this remark . Babidi, without any scruples, announces to the King of Demons that he was only a simple pawn in his plan and whose usefulness is now exhausted. Majin Buu takes revenge and turns Dabra into chocolate to devour him.
Majin Vegeta then decides to confront Majin Buu while Babidi is confronted by Piccolo who has come out of his petrification . The Namek then swears to kill the sorcerer and confronts him in a fight exclusively in the anime. Babidi uses his magic by covering Piccolo with electrified slime and surrounds himself with a protective shield . This sorcery does not stop the Namek who gets rid of the slime and manages to get past the sorcerer's shield and approach him. 🦵
Babidi begs for his life, stating that without him, Majin Buu will be uncontrollable and he can destroy everything. Piccolo responds that it will happen no matter what and breaks the magical barrier, slicing the evil wizard in half at the waist.
Once on the ground, Babidi laments his fate and states that he had planned to rule the universe the moment Piccolo walks away.
While he is dying, Babidi witnesses the fight between Majin Vegeta and Majin Buu. The Prince of the Saiyans sacrifices himself in a powerful explosion in order to kill his opponent but the latter survives the attack and regenerates quickly. The sorcerer, still alive but close to death, forces Majin Buu to treat him while threatening to lock him in his cocoon again. The latter reluctantly accepts and quickly restores Babidi. Unable to leave the planet because his spaceship was destroyed by Vegeta, Babidi climbs onto Majin Buu's back to begin the extermination of humanity.
The evil sorcerer is once again annoyed to see that Buu is difficult to control and that he is constantly forced to threaten him to make him obey him . 👍
After razing numerous towns by exterminating the inhabitants, Babidi decides to communicate with the Earthlings telepathically by demanding that Son Goten, Trunks and Piccolo show themselves. The sorcerer decides to continue the carnage on the planet in order to force the Z Team fighters to show themselves.
Idasa , a rival of Trunks, transmits the latter's location to Babidi but he is threatened with death by the sorcerer following his odious behavior. Majin Buu and Babidi then travel towards West City to reach Capsule Corporation but are confronted by Son Goku on the way. Coming to buy Trunks time, the wizard orders Buu to attack. 💥
It is at this moment that Son Goku decides to reveal his new Super Saiyan 3 form before facing his opponent. Babidi watches the fight insulting and criticizing Majin Buu every time he makes a mistake or shows a sign of weakness.
Son Goku decides to stop the fight , declaring that a new fighter will soon appear and will match Buu's power. The Saiyan also adds that he is surprised to see such a great fighter allow himself to be ridiculed by someone as ridiculous as Babidi. Goku then teleports away after his speech to the evil wizard's insults . ✊
Once the Saiyan disappears, Babidi viciously insults Buu for not having succeeded in killing him. This remark added to Goku's speech ends up annoying Majin Buu who no longer wants to be manipulated. Buu announces to his master that he has a secret to tell him and then bends down to his level and then grabs him by the throat . Strangled and deprived of reliable allies such as Dabra, Babidi is unable to recite the formula that can lock away the monster. Majin Buu then blasts Babidi's head with a powerful punch and destroys the body using an energy attack. The monster then celebrates the wizard's death with a dance before resuming the carnage on Earth. 💀
At the end of the saga, we can see Babidi again in the Underworld, when he observes with the help of a giant crystal ball , the confrontation between Son Goku and Kid Buu. He watches this legendary fight alongside other villains such as Frieza, King Cold, Cell and many others.
At the start of the duel, when the villains ask who Goku's opponent is, Babidi proudly announces, boasting that Buu is his former protégé and that he taught him everything. This speech then arouses respect and surprise among the other villains, which earns praise for the evil sorcerer. While Frieza, Cell and the others hope for Buu's victory, Babidi steps back and begins to grumble furiously remembering Majin Buu's betrayal. The sorcerer then encourages Son Goku in secret. 👍
Babidi applauds loudly when the Genkidama ends Buu's existence, which arouses the surprise and distrust of the other villains.
Many years later, Babidi made another appearance in the Super C17 saga of Dragon Ball GT. He escapes from the Underworld along with many other villains before being defeated again. Babidi is once again permanently locked in Hell.
BABIDI’S ATTACKS AND POWERS
Babidi has no talent for fighting. He cannot rely on his physical abilities but his true power lies in his many magical abilities . ✨
At the very beginning, Babidi only had a tiny part of Bibidi's power following the latter's death. Afterwards, his powers grew while trying to revive Buu and he eventually surpassed his father's level. At this point, the evil wizard is convinced that he can defeat Shin single-handedly. Babidi is also capable of creating magical shields and barriers that allow him to partially resist the attacks of Majin Buu and Majin Vegeta in Super Saiyan 2.
This power, however, proved useless against Super Piccolo who easily managed to destroy the magic barrier and slice the wizard in two.
Telepathy : Babidi uses this power several times to communicate with all Earthlings at a distance.
Magic : Babidi is a very talented wizard with many magical powers. Not having the slightest talent in combat, he gets by solely with his magical abilities.
Fusion: Babidi is one of Bibidi's many look-alikes. This magic spell from Bibidi is very useful for doubling and surprising the opponent. When he no longer needs Babidi and the other clones, he merges with them again to become one.
Mental Manipulation : This is a spell that Babidi uses to take control of his opponent's mind and thus manipulate him. It should be noted that this evil spell only works on people with evil hearts.
Explosion Sorcery: This terrible spell allows you to explode the head or body of an opponent controlled by Babidi. If the target is low level, he can disintegrate it instantly.
Paparapapa : This is a magic formula that Babidi uses to use some of his powers like teleportation. In the video game Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Babidi uses this spell to summon Pui Pui or Yakon depending on the attack chosen by the player.
Magic barrier : the user uses a magic formula to generate a bubble of energy around him which protects him from enemy attacks.
Demon Eye : This is an evil spell where Babidi summons a sort of viscous substance capable of exploding a target.
Sealing Spell: This spell was taught to him by Babidi. This incantation allows him to lock up Majin Buu, but he never had the opportunity to use it.
Resurrection : used in certain video games Babidi has the power to resurrect people. He notably uses this technique to bring Frieza and Cell back to life.
Babidi's Ultimate Power : This is Babidi's ultimate attack in Budokai Tenkaichi 3. The sorcerer shouts "Paparapapa", taking out his energy container to fire a powerful ki beam towards his opponent.
SOME ANECDOTES ABOUT BABIDI
- The names Babidi, Bibidi and Majin Buu refer to the magical incantations used by Cinderella's godmother: " Bibbidi Babbidi Boo ".
- A scene from the original anime showed Babidi giving Goku the finger. This scene was later edited or the middle finger was changed to the fist.
- Babidi is able to very accurately distinguish the changes in appearance of several levels of Super Saiyans. In the English dub, the evil wizard is annoyed to see so little difference between Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2. When he sees Son Goku's long hair in his Super Saiyan 3 stage, he jokingly asks Majin Buu to cut his hair. 😅
- Babidi is not Bibidi's son in the true sense of the word. He is one of the latter's many doubles and who inherited all of the sorcerer's powers upon his death.
BIBIDI, THE ORIGINAL DOUBLE OF BABIDI
Bibidi is an evil sorcerer of extraterrestrial origin. He awakened Majin Buu millions of years before the Dragon Ball saga. He is not shown in the manga but due to Babidi being his double, he has a relatively identical appearance . Fortunately, we get more details about his physique during the anime. Identical in size to Babidi, Bibidi has green skin and long mustaches. He wears a sort of black bandana with the letter M written in white on it. He is also equipped with a long orange cape and a dark blue robe with a yellow belt buckle. 😎
Despite the statements of Shin and Bibidi himself, the entity called Buu is not a creation of the sorcerer because the monster has existed since time immemorial as stated by Beerus the God of Destruction . Bibidi only knew the secret and formula to wake Majin Buu from his deep sleep. 😴
In her quest to dominate the universe, Bibibi manages to summon Buu. He tells the monster that he is his own father so that he can manipulate him. Under the orders of the evil sorcerer, Majin Buu destroys planet Alpha and prepares to eliminate the Supreme Kais . He eliminates the Kais from the North and West while absorbing those from the South.
It is by absorbing Daikaioh that Majin Buu will now have a childish innocence and a ferocious appetite. In order to maintain control over the monster, Bibidi is forced to provide it with food (mainly cakes) in large quantities . 🌮
Noticing that Buu is disobedient on several occasions, Bibidi makes a magic seal that can be used to temporarily trap the monster. The deal is simple, Buu gets a piece of candy when he behaves well. Otherwise, it will be locked away using the magic seal . The evil sorcerer also uses this seal to travel between worlds until arriving on planet Earth. 🌎
Before he can reach his target and release Buu into the human world, Bibidi is killed by the Eastern Supreme Kai . Despite this defeat, Bibidi manages to survive by creating his own double Babidi, to whom he transfers all of his powers and memories.
PUI PUI, THE SERVANT OF BABIDI
Pui Pui is one of Babidi's many minions and he is one of the most loyal. Its main mission is to protect the first level of Babidi's large spaceship in which the sealed ball containing Majin Buu is located.
Of extraterrestrial origin, the shape of his skull vaguely resembles that of Apple , a minion of Frieza. His head also has an appearance that vaguely evokes the third form of the Galactic Emperor. 🤔
He is dressed in a black jumpsuit as well as a white bib covering almost his entire torso. This protection has two points at the back. Pui Pui also wears a white helmet which matches well with the rest of his gear. We can find this type of armor on other Majin minions .
Pui Pui is a reliable warrior, loyal but brimming with arrogance while being very confident in his own abilities. He has the habit of emphasizing his superiority regardless of the power of his enemies. His determination is remarkable because he continues the fight to the end even when he is well aware of being inferior to his opponent. This is particularly well demonstrated when he confronts Vegeta just before he dies. Pui pui is loyal to Babidi and strives to give him complete satisfaction. 👍
It is highly possible that before the sorcerer's mental manipulation, Pui Pui may not have been completely evil but it only took a very small dose of evil for Babidi to be able to control him .
Pui Pui's first appearance is when Yamu and Spopovitch join Babidi's ship after collecting Son Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 energy . Once the collection is complete, Babidi believes that he no longer needs the two Majin humans and decides to delete them. Pui Pui then exterminates Yamu from a distance as he flees. Subsequently, wanting to satisfy his superior, Pui Pui is assigned to the first level of Babidi's ship with orders to protect him. 🤛
Some time later, Goku, Gohan and Vegeta arrive in the alien ship and play a game of Rock Paper Scissors to see who will be the first to fight. Vegeta wins the game and has the opportunity to begin the confrontation. Pui pui is thus the first opponent of the Prince of Saiyans. After a little arrogant speech, Babidi's henchman attacks Vegeta head-on, who then dodges all the blows effortlessly . Pui Pui is manhandled during the confrontation and is thrown to the ground several times. In order to help the alien, Dabra advises Bibidi to change the setting of the fight to Pui Pui's home world, the planet Zoon . Despite this change, he will be killed by Vegeta in the end.
YAKON, THE DEVOURER OF LIGHT
Yakon is a gigantic monster feared throughout the universe. Large in size and with scaly green skin , it has a large claw on each of its forearms that it can retract if necessary. The Majins symbol is inscribed on his chest unlike other minions where the inscription is located on the forehead.
Much like Majin Buu, Yakon is a voracious monster with a legendary appetite . The creature comes from a world completely shrouded in darkness and has developed a terrible reputation in the universe so much so that Shin has heard about it. It feeds primarily on light and energy , thus plunging worlds into darkness and chaos . He was eventually controlled by Babidi and given his own accommodation in the sorcerer's ship with a darkened room. ☝
Yakon used to stay most of his time in his quarters but he would go out when Babidi needed him. Unfortunately for the Majin minions, they were all eaten when they came to get the monster.
We can see Yakon for the first time when two Majin henchmen come looking for him with the aim of confronting Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and Shin, just after Pui Pui's defeat. The monster obviously devours the two henchmen, forcing the wizard to intervene personally. The confrontation finally takes place on the second level of Babidi's spaceship. Son Goku is designated to face the devourer of light. The Saiyan thinks at first glance that the monster is quite slow with its size but he is quickly surprised . Yakon hits him with a huge claw strike that Goku dodges at the very last moment. 🤜
In order to advantage his creature, Babidi transports the fight to the dark planet of Yakon so that the confrontation is plunged into total darkness .
The beast can easily spot Son Goku in the darkness but is quickly surprised when the latter dodges the attacks and even retaliates with a blow to the side. The Saiyan explains to Yakon that he can sense his movements and sense ki . He then goes on to transform into a Super Saiyan, which lights up the room, much to the surprise of Babidi, Dabra and the monster. Son Goku then declares that he will have no trouble winning the fight now that the area is lit. 😮
It is Yakon's turn to impress his opponent when the monster sucks up all the light generated by the Super Saiyan's aura thus returning the Saiyan to his base state. Understanding that Yakon feeds on light, Son Goku once again transforms into a Super Saiyan .
The creature, delighted to have something to eat again, begins to suck the Saiyan's aura again.
Goku decides to exploit Yakon's vice and then increases his power, demonstrating a glimpse of Super Saiyan 2 's power to Vegeta.
Yakon, not known for his intelligence, does not understand the Saiyan's plan and continues to absorb light to the point of swelling. Son Goku increases his power again until he explodes Yakon from the inside . 💥
